WaPo Talks About Us Metro Bloggers
The Washington Post ran an article this morning on the front page of the Metro section entitled "Catoe Should Make Gadfly Bloggers His New Best Friends". The majority of the piece was focused on an interview with the guy that writes Unsuck DC Metro, but it did include mention of this here awesome (yet in need of more active writers!) blog. I would like to extend a big thank you to the Post! Not for mentioning this blog, but for running a piece on how Metro should pay attention to what the blogs have to say.
My goal has always been to run a blog about the Metro that is not simply just rants or complaining. As I've said in several posts, that has become much, much harder to do. There just isn't much about the Metro that is fun to post about anymore! When I have had to write posts that focus on finger pointing or ranting, I always try to find a way to include something at least remotely constructive. I also tried to launch an initiative to gather community feedback to help improve the little things at Metro...but, the worst accident in Metro history happened to occur the same day as the initiative and rightly overshadowed any efforts there. The thick irony is unfortunate.
If nothing else, this article by WaPo has given me more motivation and inspiration to keep writing. To keep pushing a mix of Metro's problems that we can either help them resolve as a community, or at least make constructive suggestions so they have a channel for hearing our feedback, as well as humorous stories about life on the Metro we all know and love.
Now, Catoe and pals: Are you reading these blogs like WaPo instructs you to? Are we going to setup a two-way communications channel sometime in the future to make sure this becomes less of a way to rant and more of a way to help move the system forward? After all, that's what we are all interested in and is very much a common goal.
