Metro Knew About Faulty Circuit That Caused Crash?

WJLA is reporting that Metro employees knew about the faulty circuits that most likely caused the fatal crash - and they knew about it days before the crash occurred. Supposedly they were alerted to the fact that this particular circuit (or circuits) was not working on June 17th, 5 days before Metro's deadliest disaster.

This is a very disturbing finding, especially if Metro could simply have replaced the circuit more quickly and prevent 9 lives from being lost. But to be responsible on passing this story along, I have to inject two editorial comments:

1. What is the normal procedure for replacing a faulty circuit? Perhaps prior to this incident one intermittently faulty circuit was considered common and something that could be worked around for a while until it was replaced? It's incredibly hard to imagine that being the case now after what we know, but I sure would like to hear what Metro has to say about this. Right now, they are not commenting because of "the ongoing investigation." Uh huh.

2. This news report is coming anonymous sources inside of Metro that won't reveal their names. Obviously this is a very controversial report and, if 100% correct, could and should cause a lot of heads to roll. But there is always a slight chance that this could be a fabrication of exaggeration of some sort if there is not a source to stand behind it.

Either way, Metro needs to respond to this ASAP. This is potentially disastrous and will cause me to lose any last ounce of faith I have in Metro management if proven true.
