Advice: Don't Kick Trains

Here's a brief but very entertaining story submitted from one of our readers. Her friend Derek P. witnessed a sad yet hilarious little incident a few weeks ago on the yellow line.

Derek was on the Metro when the doors closed, just before a guy comes running up and misses getting on the train by seconds (let's be honest - there is nothing worse on earth than watching the doors close in your face, especially outside rush hour). But what sets this guy apart from the norm is that he actually starts kicking the train after the doors close! As is to show that big, bad train who is boss! The conductor decides this is not cool and decides to announce his own thoughts on the situation over the loud speaker:

"Please do not attack the train! What did the train do to you? Don't kick the train just because you missed it. Is that the train's fault?"

That was not enough to deter the frustrated guy who must have had a really, really important date to make that was shattered by missing this specific train. He responded to the announcement by proceeding to hit the train. The conductor was still watching...

"Is there a transit officer on the platform? Well I guess we don't need one cause we're moving and you're not on the train!"

Still, more hitting and kicking of the train as it rolls out of the station:

"Jeez...did he think he was special or something? Anger management dude."

Anger management - I think we could all use that from time to time. Especially those of you who ride the extra-angry red line.

I have a similar story. I was leaving the Nats/Red Sox game a month ago (we all know what that is like) and it was the day after the Red Line accident. There was a fan (young professional guy) who probably had a few drinks, that started banging on the window pane of one of the cars as the doors shut and it had left. Apparently his friend got on and he did not. It was seven feet from a metro officer and he got dragged off as a result.
