Tomorrow is 'Dump the Pump' Day: Metro for All

Like most people, you've probably never heard of this. But tomorrow, Thursday, June 18th, is 'Dump the Pump' Day. It is a nation wide effort, sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association, to get people out of their cars and into mass transit for their daily commute. We are definitely a big fan of this effort! Don't be fooled by our Metro horror stories or our rants, our lives would be hell without Metro or any kind of mass transit. DC thrives on mass transit and could heavily benefit from even more (for reasons, see 66, 270, 495, 395, 95, etc).

"With gas prices increasing 33% since December, coupled with uncertain
economic times, people have been looking for ways to saveand riding public
transportation is a great choice to make,” said APTA President William Millar.
“The National Dump the Pump Day on June 18 is an opportunity for people across
the country to make a difference in their wallet, as well as in the environment.
"

See all the details about the story here. And here is a little promo video put together by Metro for the event tomorrow:

So, if you are not an everyday rider of Metro, tomorrow is a great day to start. Just make sure to tweet/email us your horror stories after the day is over. :)
