How the Size of the Metro System Stacks Up


Interesting post on the relative size of the DC Metro system here. In the image to the left, borrowed from the linked blog post, the actual maps of 4 different subway systems are laid on top of each other to give an idea of the size and "reach" of the different major systems. DC is the puke green color, of course.
The winner of relative size, according to the blogger: London, in red. DC's system is far reaching into the Maryland and Virginia suburbs compared to other major subways, so it stacks up pretty nicely considering the small population and total area of Washington, DC.
