Ode to the Dupont Washington Post – Express Man
Oh Express man
You always have a smile on your face
Cold
Wet
Sunny
Miserable days are weathered by you.
While most of us walk by
Grabbing our slightly folded papers from you
Rarely say a word
You always seem happy to be there.
Where were you today?
I missed you – and wonder
Are you o.k.?
My normally horrendous walk to the metro
Is briefly interrupted everyday by your melodious voice
“Free Express Here!”
Please come back
Because if I don’t get to do my crossword tomorrow,
My love (and X-mas tip)
Will disappear.
p.s. tell those girls selling donuts to start accepting debit cards
