March 9th - Metro Twitter RoundUp

As you may have noticed, MovingMomentarily is now a force to be reckoned with...on Twitter! We love this for so many reasons. Not only can we take advantage of Twitter's "micro-blogging" capabilities to instantly communicate with all of our followers about hilarious or interesting stories and facts about the Metro, but our fans can give us feedback and tweet us their Metro experiences as they happen! Well, at least for those of you with Twitter on your phone. Otherwise, rushing home from the Metro station and tweeting us from your computer is acceptable - as long as you run.

Moving Momentarily on Twitter: MvngMomentarily

We have gained close to 600 followers in the first few days of launching this Twitter effort and we have received some great tweet replies with fun experiences on the Metro! So moving forward, we will be doing periodic blog posts to recap the stories you guys have submitted to us through Twitter or email. If you tweet us, we will even link back to your Twitter account with your story in our post!

Let's get this party started, shall we?

(Metro goodness AS IT HAPPENS!)
hoborocks@mvngmomentarily a man in a wheelchair taking the escalator, and someone at the top yelled down "HEY MOVE IT ALONG"; that didn't end well...

dcjas@mvngmomentarily The yellow line's "Doors closing" msg was about 3 minutes late all the way home tonight...haha

(Someone is making clever Haikus about the Metro...love it!)
DCHaiku@mvngmomentarily Trying to listen to podcast of Diane Rhem on way to work...metro stop musicians suck...How much to make you stop?

DCHaiku@mvngmomentarily All BBerries will now work on metro...no more break between Farragut and Union Station...stop staring at the cute guy!

MM Response: What was I wearing? Pretty sure that cute guy was me.

(In response to our rant on Beyonce)
SistaRayRay@mvngmomentarily I know that's right! When I can hear it 5 seats down you know it's too damn loud!! :-(

Johnnythesaint@mvngmomentarily Loved the Beyoncé video on your blog. Thanks. Now I can show it to everyone who listens to loud music on public transports.

(In response to our post about cell service in the metro)
asomyak@mvngmomentarily Like I said before tourist spotting is going to be a lot easier "HUH!? WHAT I CAN'T HEAR YOU I'M ON THE SUBWAY!"

cassipeters@mvngmomentarily I can see the annoying ipod guy talking loud on his cell phone really making me mad AGAIN

DCHaiku@mvngmomentarily All BBerries will now work on metro...no more break between Farragut and Union Station...stop staring at the cute guy!

(Response to our post about Metro musicians)
TLinDC@mvngmomentarily I think the "best" musician I've heard is a guy outside Union who, I'm pretty sure, ONLY sings "For the Longest Time"

(Request for more rants!)
asomyak@mvngmomentarily A post about putting perfume/strong lotion on metro would be great. Someone put some on during rush 2nite ppl weren't happy

(Riders who discovered why we call ourselves Moving Momentarily!)
jacquejo@mvngmomentarily L'Enfant yellow toward Fort Totten holding two minutes for a schedule adjustment and will be moving momentarily!!

(Questions for Moving Momentarily)
Ray_Rahmati@mvngmomentarily - what's with the "love" part of your profile description? I thought everyone HATED the DC metro? :)

MM Response: Seriously, we do LOVE the Metro. I mean we love to hate it most of the time, but we also really, really love it - like love it love it. Just stop and imagine what your life in DC would be like if the Metro did not exist at all. Now tell me that you don't love the Metro. 'Nuff said.

Keep the tweets coming!

I don't understand why everyone expresses such HATE for the Metro. It really is pretty good. It's not perfect, but what is? If you use the technology available it really makes things easier. I receive SMS Twitter updates (www.metrotweet.com) on potential problems. I also utilize the Metro Riders Tools http://www.wmata.com/rider_tools/pids/real_time_arrivals.cfm) which is updated every 30 seconds. I can decide if I need to kick it up a notch to get the next train.

If you notice...it is LOVE/HATE relationship. We all love the metro... It gets us where we need to go everyday, at a very cheap rate, and also helps the environment. This blog is more about the quirky things that happen on the metro and honestly sometimes about the days where the Metro doesn't seem to be cooperating with us.
