Ads On the Metro Ceilings? Really?
I'm not sure if you were quite as lucky as I was today or not. But if you were, you got to see an incredible feat in Metro and advertising history on your train ride today. When I got on the Orange line this evening at Farragut West (which was ridiculously packed, just like I like it), I noticed the typically spotless ceiling of the Metro car had been dirtied with giant ads! And I don't mean like just one ad...a freaking ton of them.
Ingenious! Or not so much. One of the two. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. From a Metro rider standpoint, they are damn ugly - which I guess is not the worst thing in the world. But how are these affective? They just look kinda stupid - and that's only if you actually happen to be staring at the ceiling to notice them in the first place. Luckily, I'm a fan of staring at the ceiling when I am crammed in a rush hour cattle car.
Then again, if this helps Metro close the budget gap and make ends meet...I guess no one really gives a crap.

There were a bunch of Virginia is for lovers tourism ads on the ceiling of the blue line this afternoon too. It was very distracting.
I saw some on the red line a few months ago... trying to look like they were blending in with the decor, but rather poorly
Goes to show you how often I pay attention, I never looked at the ceiling until you mentioned it...
I don't think I've looked at the ceiling, either! I typically keep my eyes cast down, sighing "FML" under my breath.
